The Society's primary museum facility, this structure houses our formal gallery which features rotating exhibits. An extensive research library here contains collections of historical books about the settlement of Ohio and Wayne County, along with area genealogical materials, atlases, census, burial, and marriage records. Researchers may call the society to schedule an appointment to view the records.
In addition, the building incorporates a carriage barn featuring a variety of horse-drawn vehicles, including some locally manufactured by the Gerstenslager Company. Wooster's 1869 steam fire pumper is also housed here, along with an 1830 hand pumper and a 1937 fire truck. The building also displays agricultural implements, firearms, Indian artifacts, early lighting, a huge variety of stuffed animals over 100 years old, pioneer-era tools, and a fireproof storage vault for early county records.
